The Chinese government has launched an anti-monopoly investigation into Nvidia, and Chinese netizens have expressed their strong need for graphics cards.

In the past two days, NVIDIA (Nvidia) has been exposed to antitrust investigations in many countries, including the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and France, and a spokesman for NVIDIA said: ‘We are happy to answer any questions that regulators may have about our business.’

In fact, Nvidia already refused to accept new orders for H20 chips from China last year. This was mainly due to our export policy. Nvidia can be said to be China’s last line of defense in the field of technology. The chips that were not allowed to be exported were “AI chips”.

In 2023, Chinese internet company ByteDance ordered over 7 billion GPU products from Nvidia, most of which were computing chips.

There’s no alternative brand for this product in China. The domestic graphics card manufacturers in China also purchase chips from NVIDIA and design their own appearance.

I believe that many people choose graphics cards and opt for NVIDIA ones. AMD and Intel graphics cards are not up to par, and AI large-scale models require NVIDIA graphics cards to provide computing power support.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060Ti 16G version is a lower-priced option for Chinese internet professionals and is well-suited for building AI large-scale models. In late 2023 to March 2024, the price of the card rose from 2,899 RMB to 3,299 RMB, and this wave of waiting for a price drop did not pay off. In April, the self-operated store on JD.com rose to 3,599 RMB, and then rose to 3,899 RMB. Now, it can be purchased for around 3,599 RMB.

It can be known from the above that Huang Renxun does not value the ordinary consumer market so much, or that large companies have to engage in AI, and many orders can not be produced. Prices have been rising since China cut off some supplies last year.

And this time, Nvidia directly removed the products in China’s e-commerce platform Tmall, Jingdong and other domestic platforms, that is, Nvidia’s public version of the graphics card, has not been sold.

The current AI is a rapid development stage, the demand for computing power is very large, and this is almost completed by the GPU, so it is very likely that the next Nvidia graphics card will increase in price!

In this regard, many Chinese netizens said that after seeing the notice issued by the government, they immediately bought an Nvidia graphics card, and can’t wait for it to cut prices!

We can see the reaction of Chinese netizens on Chinese Internet communities Zhengbaodian (www.zhengbaodian.com) and Gua5 (www.gua5.com).
